When the Apple Watch first launched it was praised as a rising success with models being sold out across the country. The latest piece of technology with the “it factor” the Apple Watch was the only smart watch dominating the market. However, Mashable reports that a new promotion has flown under the radar due to its lack of advertising which offers a $50 discount on both the regular sku and sport’s model if the buyer also gets a new iPhone.
So what gives? Could this be a sign of trouble for the much praised watch?
Over the course of Apple’s history they’ve been known not to run discounts or promotions on their products. So this deal has provided some cause for alarm by industry insiders since it’s the first of its kind in a long while (and only available in-stores not online). Apple recently released its earnings report for the past quarter and suspiciously the sales for the Apple Watch were left of it. Another sign of potential trouble is the Apple Watch is now being sold at Target, which is not usually Apple’s main market when it comes to premium technology.
With all of those things in mind, it’s important to keep an eye on the internet rumblings over the next week as more information about the deal begins to spread. Whether or not it’s a sign of problems for Apple is still up in the air at this point.
